1. Paul’s Life Before Jesus (Acts 22:1–5)

Read: Acts 22:1–5

  • Paul asks the crowd to listen to his defense.
  • He explains his background as a devout Jew, trained by Gamaliel.
  • He admits how he used to persecute Christians, even traveling to other cities to arrest them.

Simple truth: Jesus knows our whole story, even the parts we aren't proud of.

  • Why do you think Paul started by talking about his background?
  • Is there anything in your past that makes you feel like God couldn't use you?

Prayer idea: Thank God that He loves us exactly as we are, and that He can use our whole story for His glory.

2. Meeting Jesus (Acts 22:6–11)

Read: Acts 22:6–11

  • A bright light from heaven flashes around Paul at noon.
  • Jesus speaks to him, asking why Paul is persecuting Him.
  • Paul is blinded by the light and has to be led by the hand into Damascus.

Simple truths: When we meet Jesus, everything changes. He is the light that shows us the way when we are lost.

  • How does meeting Jesus change the way we see the world?
  • Paul was blinded so he could finally 'see' the truth. Have you ever felt 'blind' to God's love?

Prayer idea: Ask Jesus to shine His light in your heart and show you the next step He wants you to take.

3. A New Call and a Clean Start (Acts 22:12–16)

Read: Acts 22:12–16

  • Ananias, a man of God, goes to see Paul and heals his sight.
  • Ananias tells Paul that God has chosen him to know His will and be a witness.
  • Paul is told to be baptized, washing his sins away.

Simple truths: Baptism is a beautiful picture of a fresh start. God gives us a new purpose and a clean heart.

  • What does it feel like to have a clean start?
  • How can you be a 'witness' to what Jesus has done for you this week?

Prayer idea: Praise God for the gift of forgiveness and ask Him to help you live out your new purpose.

4. God’s Plan Is Bigger Than Our Plan (Acts 22:17–21)

Read: Acts 22:17–21

  • Paul returns to Jerusalem and prays in the temple.
  • Jesus tells him to leave Jerusalem because people won't listen to him there.
  • Jesus sends Paul far away to tell the Gentiles (non-Jews) the good news.

Simple truths: God’s plans are often surprising, but they are always best. He sees the whole picture when we only see a small part.

  • Has God ever changed your plans? How did you feel?
  • Who is someone 'far away' or different from you that God might want you to help?

Prayer idea: Trust God with your future and ask for a heart that is willing to go wherever He leads.

5. God Protects Paul for His Mission (Acts 22:22–30)

Read: Acts 22:22–30

  • The crowd gets angry and starts shouting.
  • The Roman commander orders Paul to be whipped, but Paul mentions he is a Roman citizen.
  • The commander is afraid and stops, realizing Paul has legal rights he must respect.

Simple truths: God uses everything about us—even our citizenship or skills—to protect us and help us finish our mission.

  • How can your unique background be used by God?
  • When have you felt God's protection in a difficult situation?

Prayer idea: Thank God for being our Protector and for the unique way He has made each of us.

Wrap-Up: My Story With Jesus

Read again: Acts 22:10

Whether you are 15 or 50, Jesus is speaking to you today:

  1. He knows where you’ve been (the past).
  2. He wants to be with you now (the present).
  3. He has a good plan for where you’re going (the future).

Reflection activity:

  • Think of one word to describe your life before you really knew Jesus.
  • Think of one word to describe how you feel now.
  • Write down one person you can tell your 'story' to this week.

Closing prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for changing my story. Help me to listen for Your voice like Paul did and follow You with all my heart. Amen.
